Smart Adeyemi

Smart Adeyemi is a Nigerian politician, journalist, and former Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, representing the Kogi West Senatorial District. He is recognized for his extensive political career and his background in the media industry. Early Life and Education Smart Adeyemi was born on August 18, 1960, in Ayegunle Gbede, Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State, Nigeria. His educational journey began in his native Kogi State before he proceeded to study at the Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ), Lagos. He also holds a Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree from the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO). Prior to entering politics, Adeyemi established a strong career in journalism, which laid the foundation for his public life. Career Progression Adeyemi's professional career was initially rooted in journalism, where he rose to prominence. He served as the President of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) for two consecutive terms, during which he advocated for press freedom and improved working conditions for journalists. His political career began in 2007 when he successfully contested for the Senate seat representing Kogi West Senatorial District on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
