Steve Onu (born August 24, c. 1975), widely known by his stage name Yaw, is a prominent Nigerian media personality, comedian, actor, producer, and On-Air Personality (OAP). He is best known for his long-standing role as an OAP at Wazobia FM, Lagos, where he gained significant recognition for his humor and broadcasting style. Yaw is also known for producing several major stage plays and contributing to Nigerian television. Early Life and Education Steve Onu was born in Lagos State, Nigeria, on August 24. Although born in Lagos, he is originally from Awka in Anambra State. He grew up in the Lawanson area of Surulere Local Government Area in Lagos. Coming from a family of ten children, his upbringing was modest. As a child, he assisted his mother by selling "ice water" and cold minerals at Yaba market after school. He attended Osimoye Primary School and St. Ann Secondary School, both in Surulere. Career Progression and Notable Works Yaw began his professional career by getting involved with the BBC before his time at Wazobia FM. He rose to fame as an On-Air Personality, a role for which he is most recognized. His broadcasting success led to extensive work in the entertainment industry as a comedian and events compere. As an actor, Yaw has appeared in several Nigerian television drama series, including *Twilight Zone*, *Flatmates*, *Dear Mother*, and *Fuji House of Commotion*.
