Abba Moro

Abba Patrick Moro (born July 3, 1956) is a Nigerian politician, former minister, and a current Senator representing the Benue South Senatorial District in the Nigerian Senate. He is a prominent figure in the politics of Benue State and has held several key governmental positions throughout his career.Early Life and Education Abba Moro was born in Okpokwu Local Government Area of Benue State. He received his primary education in his home state before proceeding to secondary school. He obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Administration from the University of Lagos and later pursued further studies, earning a Master's degree in Public Administration from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. His academic background is in public sector management, which laid the foundation for his career in public service.Career Progression and Major Achievements Moro began his career as an academic, serving as a lecturer at the Benue State Polytechnic. His transition into politics and public administration saw him hold various positions at the state and federal levels. One of his most notable roles was serving as the Minister of Interior from 2011 to 2015 under the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan. During his tenure as Minister, he oversaw several key agencies, including the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), the Nigeria Prisons Service (now the Nigerian Correctional Service), the Federal Fire Service, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC). His career has been marked by significant political ambition and electoral success. In the 2019 general elections, Abba Moro contested and won the senatorial seat for Benue South on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), succeeding Senator David Mark.
