Ada Jesus (comedian) **Mercy Mmesoma Obi** (19 April 1998 – 21 April 2021), widely known by her stage name **Ada Jesus**, was a Nigerian actress and stand-up comedian. She gained significant popularity in the Nigerian entertainment industry, particularly for her comedy skits posted on social media platforms, which often featured her speaking in the Igbo language.Early Life and Education Ada Jesus, whose birth name was Mercy Mmesoma Obi, was born on 19 April 1998, in Orlu, Imo State, Nigeria. She was the third child in her family. For her tertiary education, she attended Imo State University, where she graduated before beginning her career. Following her graduation, she engaged in temporary work, including a period as a housekeeper for a retired pilot, while simultaneously pursuing opportunities in modeling and auditioning for various movies and television serials.Career Progression and Notable Works Ada Jesus initially began her career as a stand-up comedian, performing at different events and shows. Her breakthrough occurred in 2018 when she started regularly posting comedy skits on platforms like Instagram and Facebook. These skits, predominantly performed in the Igbo language, quickly resonated with a wide audience, establishing her as a prominent figure in the Nigerian online comedy space. Her career combined acting and comedy.Personal Life and Current Status Ada Jesus married Kingsley Nnadi on 5 April 2019, and the couple welcomed a daughter on 6 December 2019. Her career was tragically cut short due to health complications. Ada Jesus suffered from kidney-related issues, which led to a highly publicized illness. On 20 April 2021, she suffered a cardiac arrest and was rushed to the intensive care unit of Zenith Medical & Kidney Centre in Abuja, Nigeria, where she died the following morning, 21 April 2021, at the age of 23.
