Overview
Damilare Oluwasegun, popularly known by his stage name Asiri, is a Nigerian comedian, author, and entrepreneur recognized for his unique style of comedy and his contributions to the creative sector. He is also known as Damilare Osundare.Early Life and Education Damilare Osundare was born on December 23, 1991, in Ibadan, Nigeria. He holds dual alma maters, having attended both Obafemi Awolowo University and Ajayi Crowther University. Although he initially aspired to become a teacher after completing his undergraduate degree, his interest in comedy developed during his university program starting around 2010.Career Progression and Achievements Asiri is recognized primarily as a Nigerian comedian and author. He is the CEO and founder of Humorality Comedy Academy. His transition into comedy was described by him as a "coincidence." As an author, he has published four books, writing initially under the pen name Damilare Osundare before morphing to Damilare Oluwasegun. In August 2023, he recorded a comedy special titled "Open Secret." His major achievements include being listed as one of the Top 100 Nigerian Youth Leaders for the Royal African Young Leadership Forum (RAYLF) in 2021 by His Imperial Majesty, Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, for his leadership and business acumen. He also received the Best Comedy Act award in 2017 from the Nigerian Entertainment Awards (NEA).Current Status As of 2021, Damilare Oluwasegun is married to Abiodun Christiana Oluwasegun, and they have one child.
