DJ Maphorisa
Themba Sekowe (born November 15, 1987), widely known by his stage name DJ Maphorisa, is a highly influential South African DJ, record producer, and vocalist. He is also known by his alter ego, Madumane. Recognized for his versatility across multiple music genres, particularly Afrobeats, gqom, and amapiano, he is considered one of the continent's most successful music figures.
Early Life and Education
Themba Sekowe was born on November 15, 1987, and raised in Soshanguve, Pretoria, South Africa. He grew up in a musical and Christian background, which fostered his early love for music, especially house music. He is the biological brother of South African DJ and record producer Myztro. He drew inspiration from notable figures in the South African music scene, including Corry Da Groove, DJ Monde, DJ Fresh, DJ Oskido, and Black Coffee.
Career Progression
DJ Maphorisa began his professional career in 2008. He initially gained recognition as a member of the house music group Uhuru. His breakthrough came as a producer, where he was instrumental in creating numerous hit singles across various genres. Prior to establishing his own label, he was signed to Kalawa Jazmee Records.

His extensive discography as a producer also includes albums like *DaKAR II* (2016) and *Emakhaya* (2018).
